New Regional Representatives 2018-19

It is time to announce the details for the new batch of reps needed for the JTG. This helps you to get involved in the specialty and ticks the dedication to specialty box on your CV. Hopefully you will also help and inspire others to join OMFS too. You have a bit of time to think about undertaking a role, but for clarity here is the timeline of the election period:

  •        24thSeptember 2018- Applications open
  •        1stOctober 2018 - Applications close
  •        1stOctober 2018 - Positions announced
  •        2ndOctober 2018 - New reps start their tenure

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Single or dually qualified maxillofacial enthusiast, in either a training post or during their second degree. Must be below registrar (ST3) level.

TERM OF OFFICE

October 2nd– July 31st

JOB DESCRIPTION

    •        First point of call for advice for those interested in OMFS who have finished one degree and are in the same deanery.
    •        Offer to meet in person/discus over telephone for this.

Meet the Kings Admission Team

Meet the Kings College London, Dental Program for Medical Graduate (DPMG) Admission team. Friday 1 December 2017 AM and 12th January 2018 AM.

Miss Kathleen Fan has arranged for director of dental admission to be available along with herself and a current DPMG student to meet prospective medics wishing to study dentistry at Kings College London.

The timetable would be for short presentations by Dr Jonathan Turner (Director of Dental Admission), Kathy Fan (Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon) and current DPMG student on the programme. Followed by question and answer session.

New Undergraduate Reps

Applications are now over and the following are now your new regional and undergraduate reps!

For the regional reps following deaneries:

  • East Midlands – Aimee Rowe
  • London – Farah Aga
  • North West – Catherine Moshkun
  • South West – Jessica Naylor

The Yorkshire and Humber has had several applicants so we will need to run elections to determine who the membership want to represent their deanery. I will get a poll going asap.

Educational Bursaries

The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers is providing 5 bursaries of up to £1000 each in the 2015-2016 academic year. The bursaries are available to trainees who are members of The Royal College of England or an affiliate and wish to attend a RCS Education course held at the Royal College of Surgeons, London. Applicants should be in stages CT1-CT2 or ST1-ST2 of a recognised UK training programme.

Call for Abstracts

The JTG Conference 2019 is slowly getting nearer. The committee are working hard behind the scenes signing contracts, putting up projectors and ordering wine for tables amongst other important jobs.

Now it's your turn to do some work! If you have a project that you consider worthy, please submit a 300 word abstract online as we are now accepting abstracts.
